馬場葉子プロフィール

 

岩手県久慈市生まれ、青森県八戸市出身。幼少期からクラシックピアノを、高校よりクラシック声楽を学び、岩手大学教育学部音楽科に入学。在学中JAZZに出会い、衝撃を受け恋に落ちJAZZに転向。東京都のライブハウス（銀座・吉祥寺・新宿）と東北を中心に、全国各地でコンサート活動をしている。Ebony Fay、Tynice Brooks、David Matthews（グラミー賞受賞者）、池田篤、中山英二、安ヵ川大樹、八木のぶお、原田俊太郎、坂元昭二、類家心平、中谷泰子、伊東真紀、吉岡小鼓音 他と、ステージ・ツアー等で共演。また、 2012年ニューヨーク・ロサンゼルスへ進出、各地コンサート会場を回り絶賛される。コンサートの他、全米向けメディアやクルーズショーにも出演。同年、香港ではソロコンサートの他、金針奨（香港音楽界最高の栄誉賞）受賞ドラマーや、香港No.1ビッグバンドと共演

繊細で叙情的なその演奏は「詩人ピアニスト」と称賛される。指先から零れ落ちる音たちは、果てない喜びや悲しみをダイナミックに歌い上げ、聴衆を魅了してやまない。彼女の紡ぐJAZZ のアドリブの中には、ワビサビにも通じる感性と「和」のテイストが光る。そのさまが、アメリカやアジア等の海外公演でも高く評価され、目覚ましい活躍を広げている。オリジナル曲は心に優しい灯を灯し、音の向こうに心象風景が見えてくる。

 

作詞作曲家（JASRAC）としての評価も高い。TV報道番組テーマソングやCMソング、ご当地イメージソング、演歌歌手やアイドルへの楽曲提供をしている。また、映画音楽監督としても活躍中。 学校教育や地域振興への活動も厚く、文化庁派遣音楽家をしている。

 

音楽活動の他、表現者やタレントとしてTV・ラジオの出演歴も多い。北上e&BeFM「JAZZに乾杯」パーソナリティーや、「盛岡さんさ踊り前夜祭」、「B級グルメイベント」、「ミュージックフェス」等でのMC・リポーターとして活躍。神田うの＆カリナドレスのファッションショー音楽演出、ブライダルショー音楽演出、朗読劇の音楽監修等、さまざまな場面での総合音楽プロデュースを担当。エッセイストとして雑誌や新聞への寄稿も多い。

Yoko Baba

She was born in Kuji, Iwate, then grown up in Hachinohe, Aomori and is conducting her business in Morioka, Iwate at present.
 
She graduated from the Department of Music, Faculty of Education, National University of Iwate. Along with studying music, she started her career as a professional piano accompanist for the fields of classical music, chanson, tango and Gospels.
 
She made her debut as a Jazz pianist under the influence of Bill Evans. In practice, she joined the Tohoku tour for Jazz together with the Grammy awarded David Matthews and well-known musicians such as Atsushi Ikeda, Eiji Yamanaka, Nobuo Yagi, Ebony Fay, Tynice Brooks, et al. Thereafter, delicately and dynamically, she had concert tours not only in Japan but also abroad by herself or together with musical units including foreign artists. Later, she hold her concerts in NY and LA in USA, as well.　
 
Besides musical activities, she is displaying her talents in producing musical events/receptions, speaking in talk shows and education in lectures/seminars. In addition, she published her collected essays entitled “As tears go by” (in Japanese “Namida wo nagasu-youni)”.

Recently, she joins local voluntary works, holds Jazz workshops at elementary/secondary schools and concerts in nursing homes. Through  broadcasting in TV or radio programs, she became well-known and popular in her home ground, and is now busy as a composer to serve her original tunes for nation-wide associations.

Recent Activities:

1. Composed and played the theme music of “News Plus 1 Iwate”, NTV since 29 March 2010

2. Published the selected essays entitled “Namida wo nagasu-youni (As tears go by)” on 07 July 2010.

3. Composed the TV Commercial film music for the Kahoku shinpo, the local news paper in Miyagi in February 2011

4. Released the first CD “Furusato-UTSUROI“ on 10 June 2011 (delayed by the Great East Japan Earthquake) including “Yukyu”, an theme music for the Hiraizumi, the world heritage in Iwate, Japan.

5. Invited to the “Nango Winter Jazz Festival　2011” as its main guest player and performed with David Matthews impacting the music world.

6. Performed a solo concert in NY ＆ LA, USA in 2012.

7. Performed a solo concert in Hong-Kong in 2012.
